Operated by students and funded by the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, Annenberg Media maintains editorial independence from university administration. Many of its journalists are actively involved in weekly shifts at the Media Center newsroom, often fulfilling academic requirements through practical experience.

While primarily serving the USC community—including students, faculty, and affiliates—it also features a wide array of stories relevant to Generation Z, residents of Los Angeles, and global sports audiences. The platform offers enhanced search capabilities and streamlined access to multimedia content, making it a comprehensive resource for news consumption.

The application was initially developed by Junmeng Xu and later refined by Ritom Gupta with contributions from the Annenberg Media digital team, emphasizing a collaborative approach to innovative news dissemination.
